Kaferdam Cafe

A Berlin-style café in the heart of Poznań with specialty coffee and a carefully selected selection of natural wines. You can have brunch there and snack on tapas. The interior of the café was a big design challenge, and the path to the final effect was initially very winding. The functional layout was clarified in our heads very quickly – a shiny espresso machine was to be visible from behind a beautiful dove-blue display case, and the centrally positioned bar was to be visible from every place in the premises. The owners’ vision was also clear: it was to be Berlin, with vintage furniture, preserving the old cracked plaster and the color of the display cases, and the wall behind the bar was to be the biggest “wow” effect.

Berlin in Poznań

Love for Berlin, the existing shop windows, the history of the street and the fyrtle itself had the greatest impact on the creation of the project and branding. The idea of the name refers to the location of Grobla Street – cofferdam is grodla in English, plus a small play on words with “coffee” and that’s how Kaferdam was created.

Texture and light

The northern exposure of the elevation severely limits the light coming into the premises, so we had to look for other ways to warm and liven up the interior. To catch as much light as possible, we decided on furniture finished with a mirror in the central part of the premises and a metallic laminate on the wall behind the bar.

A coherent story

While searching for an idea for the interior, visual identification was also being created at the hehe.studio studio. Together with the guys from hehe, we made sure that the interior corresponded with the entire concept of the brand being created.
